Grovet's Bentovet
Supplementary mineral feed for horses. Contributes to normal intestinal function in horses and foals. Bentovet consists of 98% bentonite clay minerals, of which 65% is di-tri-octahedral smectite. Di-tri-octahedral smectite is a mineral with a high absorption capacity that can also bind elements related to diarrhea.
Bentovet can be used prior to, during or after occurance of thin feces or diarrhea.
Besides these Vitamin E softgels we expanded our product range with Vitamin E + Selenium softgels. This dietary supplement for horses helps to maintain and support healthy muscle function and to protect cells from oxidative damage caused by free radicals.
Vitamin E and Selenium contribute in different ways to the elimination of free radicals. For optimal protection against oxidative damage, there must be sufficient uptake of Vitamin E and selenium.
If the dietary content of Vitamin E and Selenium is insufficient, supplementation with Vitamine E (d-a-tocoferol) plus Selenium softgels is advised.
Both natural vitamin E (d-alfa-tocoferol) and organic selenium will be absorbed by the body sufficiently.
A ration of only forage is natural and provides enough energy and protein for many horses to stay in good condition. Roughage contains minerals and vitamins in addition to energy and protein. However, with only roughage in the ration, the supply of minerals and vitamins is not sufficient.
With the convenient small pellets of Bonpard Forage Supplement, you provide essential nutrients that the horse lacks in a forage ration.
Grovet x Manuka Vet
Last week, Grovet had a visit from Ian Pryor of Mānuka Vet® to talk about our collaboration.
Since November, Manuka Vet's wound care products have been available at Grovet. These products, made with pure Mānuka honey from New Zealand, have been developed by veterinarians as an effective, natural wound management solution.

Bentovet+ Paste helps protect and restore the balance of the hindgut. With di-tri-octahedralsmectite, electrolytes and prebiotics.
New: PulseVet
Pulsevet is the market leader in veterinary shock wave therapy. It is a non-invasive treatment involving delivery of shock waves to injured tissue to reduce pain and promote healing.
Shock wave therapy can be used in a wide variety of indication, including wounds, tendon injuries, back pain and fractures.
The PulseVet device uses high-energy sound waves, that reach a large amount of tissue. The physical impact of the shock wave are translated to complex biochemical signals in a process called mechanotransduction that lead to release of proteins and healing growth factors. These have a profound effect on decreasing inflammation, improving healing in tendon/ligament injuries, accelerating bone formation and enhancing wound healing. On request, Grovet can provide more scientific information on the mechanism of action and clinical results of shock wave therapy.
The PulseVet system can be used with different types of trodes,
What can the VMRD reader be used for?
The VMRD reader is compatible with a number of lateral flow tests, the feline and equine SAA test and in the near future an equine IgG foal test will be available. The results of the equine SAA test can be valuable in many occasions. It provides quantitative results in 10 minutes and can be used in field and hospital conditions .
Clinical Applications for Equine Serum Amyloid A (SAA)
In the image below, clinical applications for the equine SAA test are shown. It can be used to asses disease severity and the need for referral and/or surgery. It can also be used to assess the progression of the disease, the occurrence of complications and the need for therapy or changes in therapy. If an animal shows non-specific symptoms, the SAA test can give an indication of a possible cause (inflammation/infection).

About Horstem
Horstem is the first licensed veterinary medicine composed of equine mesenchymal umbilical cord stem cells. The stem cells are extracted from the umbilical cord of donor horses after the foal is born. It is a non-invasive and efficient extraction that results in a relatively high number of high-quality stem cells that are safe to use. A 1 ml vial of Horstem contains 15 million pluripotent mesenchymal stem cells.
Horstem is indicated to reduce lameness in horses with mild to moderate degenerative joint disease. The product is ready to use, it does not need to be defrosted by the veterinarian. Horstem can be stored in a regular refrigerator, no special ultra-low temperature equipment is needed for storage of the product.
How does Horstem work?
The mesenchymal stem cells in Horstem are activated after injection in the inflamed joint. After
