HP Colon is a complementary dietary feed for horses with chronic digestive disorders in the large intestine. HP Colon meets the nutritional criteria set by European legislation for specific nutritional purposes. As a result, it has been specifically developed to support large intestinal issues. In addition, the composition of HP Colon is scientifically substantiated and accompanied by an extensive (roughage) feeding recommendation.
HP Colon is suitable for horses with (gas) colic, watery manure, and poorly digested manure as a result of disturbances in the fermentation process in the large intestine. These disturbances often arise from feed changes or lower-quality roughage hygiene and can lead to gas formation, acidification, damage to the intestinal wall, and a disrupted gut flora. HP Colon supports a stable fermentation process, a balanced gut flora, and a more consistent pH level, thereby improving fiber digestion. The product contains a rich variety of fibers, essential vitamins and minerals, and is low in sugar and starch to prevent negative effects on the large intestine. Additionally, specific live yeast cells (Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Yea-Sacc®) promote the growth of fiber-degrading bacteria, helping to reduce acidification and gas formation.
See our technical sheet in the downloads for more information about HP Colon 20kg
HP Colon is a complementary feed for horses and, together with roughage, forms a complete ration. The recommendation for HP Colon has therefore been carefully aligned with the roughage and its quality.
The feeding schedule (see downloads) indicates the required amounts of HP Colon and roughage based on the horse’s weight and level of activity. The cause of the complaints and the effect of the dietary ration determine whether these feeding measures are needed for a shorter or longer period. Since it is important to introduce feed changes gradually, in most cases the dietary feed should be given for at least 3 months.
Consult the HP Colon feeding schedule for tailored feeding advice, including nutritional tips on the use of different types of roughage, transition schedules, and tapering schedules with HP Forage.
