Vetmedin
Vetmedin chewable tablets for dogs contain Pimobendan, which is indicated to treat heart disease.
Indication
Vetmedin can be used to treat congestive heart failure (CHF) caused by either dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) or mitral valve disease (MVD). It can also be used to treat dogs in the preclinical stage of myxomatous mitral valve degeneration (MMVD) in order to delay the onset of congestive heart failure.
Contraindications
Vetmedin should not be used in cases of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Pharmacodynamic properties
Pimobendan is a benzimidazole-pyridazinone derivative with a positive inotropic and vasodilating effect.
Instructions for use
Give 0,2 to 0,6 mg pimobendan per kg bodyweight per day, spread over two times. This corresponds to one chew tablet in the morning and one chew tablet in the evening for a dog weighing 5 kg.
